My Account of God's Intervention in My Health
The Purpose of This Article
My name is Dave Cooper. I live in Canyon, Texas with my very loving and supportive wife Bev. I am writing this account of recent events in March 2011 to show the love of God, His ability to heal and the power of prayer, I have many to thank for their support.
The Very Bad Day-March 13, 2011
In early March I had been having some back pain and was very concerned since I had jobs in the 1970' to 1990's that were mostly standing many hours every day and usually on concrete floors. On Sunday March 13, 2011 I was laying on the floor on my back watching tv (done many times) and when I went to move to get up something happened. Every minute or so for 1-2 seconds I literally felt like I was plugged into 220 volts at my lower back! I was shaking uncontrollably, my wife was crying and I was yelling in pain when these attacks would occur. My wife called an ambulance and 4 paramedics finally were able to get me off the floor into a chair where I couldn't move for a few hours. I then finally was able to slowly get to our bed and the incredible attacks began again later that evening till early into the morning. My wife and I had never prayed so hard and so much before.
The First Doctor Visit and X-rays
The next day on Monday March 14, I was able to get to my chiropractor (Kershen Chiropractic). This took some time using a large umbrella as a cane and walking very bent over. An x-ray was taken of front & side views of the pelvis/lower back area. Dr. Kershen was out of town so I saw Dr. Neill who was extremely concerned and called Dr. Kershen who was on vacation about an unusual condition he did not recognize. Later that week when Dr. Kershen viewed the x-rays, his first words as he entered the room were, "Wow, you are messed up!" He explained how my pelvic bone had rotated and that where my spine should have a natural curve, it was totally straight. He felt it was treatable, even though he had never treated this condition before. I was still too traumitized from the pain to be adjusted, so I went home to think and pray about what the next step would be.

I decided to call a long time friend, Dr. Jillana Burgess Plummber, who has been a Chriopractor for a number of years in New Mexico. She looked at my x-rays and recognized my problem as a Double Posterior Illium. She also agreed that it was treatable.

God's Intervention and Power
During the week after when I couldn't sleep in a bed and was up most of the night praying and watching Christian programing I knew that many people were praying for me including family, many friends, and people I didn't even know. I felt like I needed all the prayer I could get, since I knew there was no way I could carry on my normal life in the pain I was in. One night I came across a verse in 1 Peter 5:10 that caught my attention greatly and felt like God was speaking to me through it. It states in my Good News translation Bible "But after you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who calls you to share his eternal glory in union with Christ, will himself perfect you and give you firmness, strength, and a sure foundation." I held to this verse greatly by reading it many times each day and placing printed copies several places in our home. I noticed with each day after that an improvement with less pain occurences and after a week I was able to sleep in a bed for the first time since March 13. I had done much study on what the Bible says about God's healing power and about asking God. (I had not realized how much Jesus talked about asking and that in John chapters 14,15 & 16 He talked about how we should ask and assured us that our prayers would be answered)
The Very Good Day-March 29, 2011
I decided to get a follow-up x-ray to see what was going on with my bones on the inside of me so I had 2 x-rays taken as before. This time there was a different "Wow" response when Dr. Kershen looked at me in amazement and said "Wow. Did you go to a church somewhere and have people pray for you? This looks like a totally different person!" Another chiroprator in Artesia, New Mexico-Dr. Jillana Plummer told me after also viewing the March 13 and March 29 x-rays "Basically what has happened is that God gave you an adjustmnent." I was told I had a double posterior Ilium (rotated pelvius as I understand it in my near zero knowledge of the human skeleton). Before I left Kershen Chiropractic that day one of the secretaries at the front desk told me "It sure is good to know someone that a miracle has happened to."

When I came home from the doctor and went into my office that same day the song by Jeremy Camp "Healing Hand of God" was playing. It caught my attention as if God was saying "See, I healed you. Don't ever forget what I did." I will never forget and I thank God every day for His intervention. (I put a video made to that song below on this webpage) My spine and pelvis are weak from all they have been through and I feel I have a responsibility now to take better care of the body God gave me by better eating, proper excersise (low impact of course and never any more sit-ups which are a big no-no!) and being careful to not undo what God did.

Thanks Is Greatly Due
I want to definetely give thanks in this account to where it is due- to God first for his intervention to show me His great love and healing power, to my wife Bev for all her continual prayers and support (even physically when I had to walk), my parents, brother and other family members who live in Canada, my friends and other people who were praying for me.

I also want to thank Dr. Kershen and Dr. Neill of Kershen Chiropractic in Canyon, TX for their expertise and great care and Dr. Plummer of
Burgess Chiropractic Center in Artesia, NM for her time, expertise and prayers.
I hope this account has been an inspiration for anyone who is going through a battle or valley that seems too deep or that there's no hope or way of escape. Don't give up! God can make a way where there is no way medically, relationally, legally, financially or any other seemingly hopeless situation.
March 2012 Update - One Year Later
Well I am happy to write here that I am still enjoying every day the great work God did a year ago. It is so wonderful to have absolutely no pain and 100% mobility back. I feel like nothing ever happened. I am careful of course as anyone should be but it sure feels great to be able to jump around, run (not a runner/jogger but love to try it occasionally!) God is soooooo good! The great thing I love is that God loves to help people who trust Him and that salvation and healing and help is available for all. John 3:26 and Isaiah 53:5 in the Bible shows this. They say that a person with experience is never at the mercy to someone with just an arguement. This is so true.
I'd like to share a few Bible verses that have taken on great meaning lately:

My favorite Bible verse is Genesis 18:14 "Is anything too hard for the LORD? I will return to you at the appointed time next year, and Sarah will have a son." (NIV version)

But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. Isaiah 53:5 (NIV version)

Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete. John 16:24 (NIV version)

Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. Matthew 18:19 (NIV version)

But after you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who calls you to share his eternal glory in union with Christ, will himself perfect you and give you firmness, strength, and a sure foundation." 1 Peter 5:10 (NIV version)
